Nicole Matthews is the loving and proud mother of college basketball player, Charles Matthews –currently a player with the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team.

Nicole and her husband Charles Sr. welcomed their son on November 15, 1996 in Chicago, Illinois. The couple are also parents to Charles two brothers, Dominique who plays basketball at Illinois-Chicago and Jordan, who will be a junior at St. Rita.

All three siblings attended St. Rita of Cascia High School; Charles I. Matthews led the school to three straight Catholic League South Division titles. As a senior, averaged 21.3 points and 6.2 rebounds, leading Mustangs to a 26-4 record, Chicago Catholic League South title and 4A Regional title before losing to Simeon, 74-70, in 4A sectional final.

Nicole’s son, currently a junior guard at the University of Michigan, previously played his freshman season for the 2015–16 Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team. After his one season at Kentucky, he decided to leave and had to miss the 2016-17 season due to transfer rules. It was later reported he had transferred to Michigan –playing his first game last November.

Since arriving to Michigan, Matthews has been an unstoppable force, helping U-M to a shot in Saturday’s Final Four against Loyola. He was named the West Region Most Outstanding Player. Can you say proud parents?

Nicole met her husband while both attended Southern Illinois University. According to mgoblue.com, her husband used to play ball during high school and once married, the couple made sure their sons were kept active in school and athletics to avoid the lure of the truly “mean” streets of Chicago.

Her son, Charles seems to stay away from social media, only keeping a Twitter account in which he writes, ‘To God be the Glory’

Like her son, Nicole Matthews and the rest of the family seem to prefer a low profile with almost cero social media interaction. Is that the key to success?
